I've cleaned, cooked, made myself over and focused on what is truly important in life..my family and friends.

Sometimes NOT DOING brings you closer to all the things you are trying to DO.
Sitting back and not spinning your wheels on a daily basis will calm you and quiet you and make you think clearly. When you put all your energy into one thing, full speed ahead, you exhaust yourself and you have no energy for anything else in your life.

Sometimes you just have to just be..just breathe...just be...Do Nothing.

My horoscope says to "Take it slow, and you will get to the right place at the right time."

DOING JUST THAT!Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-51156411641085653382011-02-07T06:36:00.000-08:002011-02-07T06:36:51.204-08:00Crockpot Chronicles, Recipe No. 3 - Chicken Noodle SoupOne of my favorite crockpot recipes...
Normally, I am really good about keeping all the pertinent documents organized in my house (or garage)...lately I've been neglecting this task.
Evidence of the buildup below...

Some of the files I keep...organized by year
-Each child with the following dividers..school certificates, test scores, handwritten stories and medical information.
-Expenses (all bills paid)
-ME with the following dividers...medical, backtoschool, etc..
-Car...Repairs and payments
-Medical...claims, insurance, etc...
-House...leases, letters, etc...
-Banking
-Workplace ...paystubs, letters, etc...
-IMPORTANT (docs I keep up front for easy access)

Filing is so important especially at tax time. After I got caught up on my filing I was able to find all the information I needed to file my taxes.

Now I just need 2 more W-2's and I can get this tax season behind me.Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-66088879062844836262011-02-01T06:34:00.000-08:002011-02-01T06:34:00.836-08:00MY TUESDAY REVIEW: Coffee Creamers....
So I didn't start drinking coffee til I worked for a large general contractor. Please share!Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-44233868896384471182011-01-26T11:04:00.000-08:002011-01-26T11:15:11.269-08:00Me for Sale...Surviving Interviews....The BEST THING about getting laid off is that you get a much deserved (but not requested) few days off! You can sleep in, stay in your pjs and eat junk in front of the tube all day...But that doesn't pay the bills, or buy the groceries or pay for the occassional haircut and pedicure...So at some point you must start working again.

Which brings me to the WORST THING about getting laid off: at some point you will have to sell yourself again.

Just as your previous employer was starting to love you and you've just settled into your job, BAM, they let you go...this has happened to me 3 times in one year! Yes the year was 2010!!!

They already knew how great you were and you already KNEW that job ..now you have to convince someone else...just as you did them (in the beginning) that

a) you have a great personality
b) you are qualified
c) you can do anything
d) you don't care about the pay
e) you will never take a day off.....

LIES I SAY!!!

The older I get the more and more I'm more up front with my Do's and Don'ts and my Can's and Won'ts!

I want flexible hours, I want higher pay, I want a 30 min lunch (don't make me take an hour), I want time away to attend my kids award shows, and I want benefits.

Lets see how far this takes me , I have 2 interviews this week...I know in my heart of hearts I will take the best offer, but the one that wants me to start immediatly and just be grateful to have a job.

Not fun being desperate. *sigh*Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-71649172248978008062011-01-18T07:12:00.000-08:002011-01-28T06:34:13.923-08:00MY TUESDAY REVIEW: Rold Gold Dipped Pretzels...So I'm a pretzel <strike>nut </strike> fanatic!! ..that is my vice--- pretzels, the Rold Gold Tiny Twists..I eat TOO MANY and I eat them all day!
Purging is good around the house too...in fact..let me share a few things I did around the house to KICK OFF OUR NEW YEAR.

I decided to tackle the 3 bedrooms. (on a budget)

1) PURGE: It's free! Clean out /organize closets, purge junk drawers, throw out or file old papers, organize laundry closets, etc.

You will be amazed at how good it feels to DECLUTTER.

2) REARRANGE: Once all the clutter is clear you have a clean slate. This will make it easier for you to move furniture around and give the space a new look. Beds should be facing the door, windows should be free of hazards, books should be neatly organized, keep it simple.

Sidenote: I bought a lego stand from Goodwill for 10 bucks for my son's lego and it was perfect!

3) New BEDDING: Just changing the linen and comforter on my queen sized bed gave me a lift!!!

Sidenote: If you can't change completely add a chenile throw or new pillows to spruce things up.
I also got everyone new PJS for Christmas ( a tradition) and let me tell ya it feels so good to relax in a clean room with new sheets and new pjs...HEAVEN

4) ACCESSORIZE: I bought curtain panels for my daughters room from Big Lots..the only place I could find teal sheers. I found a beautiful blue crushed satin panel from TJMAXX for my son's room and it matched perfectly

5) PHOTOS: Add photos of your loved ones or swap the old photos for some that are recent. Showcase the people you love.

Other quick and simple ways:
Paint
Add a Border
Add Plants or Flowers
Get a new RUG for center of the room
Update lightbulbs, add a new lamp

YOU can do it, its never too late to rearrange and start fresh!Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-86082739418327480722010-12-31T07:28:00.000-08:002011-01-28T06:32:59.313-08:00Crockpot Chronicles, Recipe No. 1 - Black Eyed PeasHappy 2011! I'm so ready for a brand new year...2010 was a real downer...

To kick off the year I did my very first pot of BLACK EYED PEAS.

from Wikipedia "Eating black-eyed peas on New Year's Day is thought to bring prosperity." and I need lots of it :)

I called my dad for his advice and he told me to buy the dry beans in the bag and let them soak over night...

I used about 6 cups of chicken broth, onion, salt and pepper and let them simmer for about 6 hours..I had some right before midnight and some for breakfast the next morning..they were so good!!!

Bring it on 2011, I'm ready!!!
Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-41516150648488463582010-12-01T05:47:00.000-08:002011-01-31T05:30:02.703-08:00Another New Job...Kelly Services is sending me on a temporary assignment with a credit card processing company in the Direct Sales Department. Lots to do...Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-52703073212709316392010-01-29T06:47:00.000-08:002011-01-31T07:03:34.927-08:00Bye Bye Birdie...YEP I'm now considered one of the 66,000+ registered at the DOL as unemployed and claiming benefits. I was in shock as I received my glossy grey packet (not blue like UP in the AIR) but same information.

It threw me for a loop when I first got the news that my company of 2+ years no longer needed me or my team after completing a successful project ...I had mixed emotions at first just as you get when you start the incline on a roller coaster..should I laugh or should I cry!!!

I wanted to cry when I realized I would be losing my health insurance if I didn't pay the $919 cobra fees..then I wanted to laugh because I was told they could reduce it to $321 since I was a single mom or some other requirements I met...but couldn't even afford that!

First things first, I had to stand in line at the DOL. Luckily my local office is only 10 mins away so the commute was a quick one. My time there however took 4hours.

I waited in line to say WHY I WAS THERE, then I completed my paperwork, then I waited in line to turn in my paperwork, then I waited for my Orientation Workshop, then I entered in my info on the computer (I guess saving them some time). I then signed up for a few mandatory workshops on Networking, Resume Writing and Occupational Choices. Then drove home in silence..looking at the road ahead and it seemed like a long one.

The biggest thing I noticed was that EVERYONE was there..not just young black mothers (which is what I thought the unemployment office would look like). Boy was I wrong. I saw every age, every race equally divided among men and women, Its all of us..we are all riding this boat together...

I should get my first check in about 3 weeks and for that I'm grateful.

Thanks Georgia Dept of Labor for all your help in keeping us thru this tough time.Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-16758246976065306142009-02-02T05:46:00.000-08:002011-01-31T05:48:30.327-08:00baggage left..finally...
"My foolish heart was broken
when he left us in the cold.
Now I’m left to fix the pieces."

Exactly how I felt 3 years ago when my ex husband left us for 8 weeks and then ultimately for good to be with another woman. We absolutely lost everything without the energy to put up a fight.
Didn't think I would ever get over that. Somehow I did, I had to, had no choice.
I think if there was a build up, if we had a horrible marriage, some kind of warning then I would've been prepared for the inevitable , I thought I had the epitome of a stable marriage til the air was knocked out of my stomach. I kept asking "What did I do??" In the past I
looked down at women that complained about their husbands and had men on the side.
I was in it for the long haul. I made my bed and I was comfy and cozy in it.
Until the day I found out he wanted out and had already spent a year working on another relationship. and to think I was so happy to be married to him , thought I had my whole life figured out. WOW!
I didn't know any better.
Getting back at him was never a goal for me. I was too numb for revenge.

The best revenge is her calling me asking me to help her with him. HUH?? The problems you guys are having I never had with him. I listened anyways. She talked about how controlling and evil he is with her. He was never like that with me. Please don't call again for advice as I have none. Goodbye to you both.

Back then I was in survival mode and that's all I thought about. I kept my friends and family on the outside and all of my pain in the inside. Until recently.
Now a commerical, a tv show, something the kids will say, or this song will bring it all to surface. Right at a time when love has found me again all the pain is seeping out. Purging to make room for something deeper and pure.
I went thru so many years of being quiet that I didn't feel or voice anything about my divorce.
I pushed it to the bottom of my soul. The minute I started to feel again, The minute I started to love again all of my barriers melted away and all the baggage came rushing around.
As I was loving him I was hating the him of my past. I love you in one conversation to I can't talk to you ever again in the next conversation. Emotional rollercoaster all day , every day.
Love and hate. Wore them on my sleeve everyday. How exhausted I was.

A few months ago I finally said "is it me, something I've done that makes you treat me this way" and he simply said "no , you've done nothing" and with that I was able to let it all go. Just like that. It wasn't me at all. I forgave him. I forgive myself. Enough is Enough. I'm done.
I wasted so much energy these past few years that I will never get back but I'm enjoying the new years I'm making with a light heart and less pain.
I'm sure every now and then something else will take me back down memory lane and all I have to do is look to my side or look in front of me and see all the love I have all around me.

"I won’t let you keep (keep) hurting me, if you gone keep causing me pain."
Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-85273874741458545052004-06-30T06:31:00.000-07:002011-01-24T06:33:50.333-08:00Marietta to AcworthAugust 2004Georgia Girl....http://www.blogger.com/profile/06409104326460747400noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299243739858179423.post-80011815589342556331997-02-02T06:29:00.000-08:002011-01-24T06:31:07.631-08:00In the beginning...DC to Marietta, GAJournal Entry 2/23/1997...
I was so nervous the week before my BIG move from my hometown where I was born and raised to my soon to be husbands' home in Marietta.

I packed up my 1995 White Nissan Sentra and hit the road. Patrice followed behind me in her Altima and we made it!

It didn't take long for me to get settled into his space. He had room mates at the time so it took a little adjusting to.

We had 7 months to plan our wedding and we didn't even have a ring picked out yet.
